Horsemanship/practical notes:
barn staff/instructor = ponies out on x-ties, groomed, bridles on - halters on top
students - body brush, curry comb, esp. clean saddle area
instructor put saddle on with explanation
student - girth billets, adjusting stirrups to the right length
after: untack them take off saddles, remove bridles, brush back, put on halter
Riding:
line up in the ring
check girth
mount correctly
how to hold rein
explanation of balance seat
ride a walk
halt - 4 step procedure
1. sit down
2. heels down, legs relaxed
3. straighten, brace back
4. close hands, pull if necessary
basic turn, bicycle turn
opposite diagonal aid
dismount
run up stirrups

same as lesson #1 & 2
except learn parts saddle basic
pommel, cantle, skirt, stirrup leathers, stirrup iron
lesson #4
have ponies completely tacked up bridle and saddle
clean feet lesson

put bridle on demonstration
they do up noseband, throat latch
untacking
undo noseband, throat latch
they should be removing saddles by now (instructor does if necc)

repeat lesson #5
help them put the bridles on

have them groom man & tail properly
help them put bridles on again

ponies groomed
they put saddle and bridle on
