Horse Care - Expectations and General Rules

[] All horses must be properly groomed for the riding lesson. There should be no sweat marks, saddle marks, or mud, and the mane and tail should be free of bedding and burrs. Clean hooves are particularly important to ensure safe footing throughout the lesson.

[] When leading horses past each other while in crossties, make sure that the tie on the side you are leading past is undone and always lead your horse with a leadshank. For u-turns stay on the outside and turn horse away from not around you. Do not lead horses close to one another or place horses hindquarters together.

[] After each ride, the horse must be thoroughtly cooled out and untacked. Remove any sweat marks and clean out hooves before returning the horse to the stall.

[] Sweep mess before and after lessons (no sweeping around a horse you don’t know, and always broom below knees)

[] Ensure all tack is cleaned with saddle soap and a sponge. The bit should be rinsed off and the bridle nose band should be figure eighted. All tack and grooming kits must be returned to their box.
